How to Be Creative

Filed under: All, Art, DIY, World Domination, Books

“How to be Creative” was written by Hugh McLeod last summer but it’s not outdated and has been fleshed out in amusing and accurate detail into a longer version. Illustrated with his very own cartoons

drawn on the back of business cards, it makes some very relevant
comments on the whole topic of being a professional in the “creative”
field.

Here’s
a little something to do with that old floppy drive that you no longer
have a need for. Ohmslaw.com has some nicely laid out instructions on

Two Cinema displays

This goes out to the reverse switchers among you, who want to set up those two 30-inch Apple Cinema Displays you
happen to have lying around (don’t we all?) to work with your Windows machine. This guide explains everything you’ll
need, including which obscure graphics cards will support this configuration and a step-by-step of how to get it all
going, which isn’t quite as easy as plug and play. When you’re done, you’ll have so much freakin’ screen real estate
you’ll be able to rent some out.

Dada Dolls made from found objects

Filed under: All, Art, Projects, Doll, Toys, DIY, Product, Storage

By Cory Doctorow:

Mindy sez, “Described as ‘Dada Dolls’, the incredible creations offered
for sale on this site are made almost entirely with recycled materials
- like dictionaries, cigar boxes, and antique tobacco tins. Each doll
comes with its own story: (example) ‘After the summer away with her
cousins in Oslo, Anna was hoping her mother would notice how short her
dresses had become, and that her figure was no longer that of a
child… ‘”

Matt Siber: Floating Logos

Mattsiber Floating-Mcd

Matt Siber’s
Floating Logos project accentuates the already looming presence of
roadside megabrands. By simply removing the poles, he introduces a bit
of surreal humor and religious allusion. Most of the photographs in the
series elevate either fast food or oil brands– a definite Americana
statement.

There’s more to the Yamagiwa:Lovegrove collaboration.
SystemX is an X-shaped lighting module that can be interconnected with
other SystemX modules to create lighting structures. “The product can
be specified for both private and public use, beginning with small
dimmable configurations for above the dining table to large open
expanses that can create zones of different temperatures of light in
collective or singular modules.”. Via Dezain.
